Stained and Leaded Glass
Selvin Glass Studio specializes in the restoration and creation of stained and leaded glass for historic homes, churches, and architectural settings. Established in 1997, the studio uses traditional techniques to restore deteriorated windows while preserving their original character and craftsmanship. Custom leaded glass is also designed and fabricated for residential and architectural projects, including privacy windows, entry doors, sidelights, transoms, and cabinetry throughout Philadelphia and the Main Line.
Gaudi Inspired - The doors in this commission were from an Antoni Gaudi estate bought at an auction by my client. He asked me to make my own original design with a nod to Gaudi. Hand-blown and leaded glass. (Private Commission)

Custom Cabinet Windows - This set of cabinet windows was a design collaboration between my company and the interior decorator. She provided me with images of decorative wrought iron she photographed during her visit to Paris. I made a pattern for her from her favorite photos and then fabricated the leaded glass windows for her client's baking kitchen cabinets. (Commission)

Restoration - Two Churches were closed in the main line Montgomery County and renovated into luxury condominiums. My firm was hired to restore all of the windows in the churches and replace the iconographic interior area of all of the windows with clear glass for the residents buying the condos. We removed all 347 windows and removed all the old lead, replaced any broken glass, and made all new clear center areas.

Art Deco Window - This client in Delaware built an addition to their house. This window was created to fill the space where the opening used to go to the outside, but since the renovation looked into the new living area. They wanted a decorative window to add ambiance and privacy to their new rooms. Leaded and handblown glass. (Commission)

Custom Leaded Glass Window

Leaded glass vitreous glass painting (studio processes). Glass paint are called enamel or vitreous enamel. I mix my own glass paint using a combination of metallic oxide pigments, ground glass, a flux such as gum arabic and water or oil. Once I mix the paint by hand and apply to the surface of the glass I fire this glass in an infra red Hoaf kiln and the paint permanently melts into the surface of the glass.
