Emily has been keeping a photo journal of “Tiny Deaths” she encounters on her walks. This decades long photographic journey has recently been transformed into a series of embroideries. The embroideries take between 40 to over 120 hours to make. They are the tiniest stitches of silk on high reflective safety fabric. Emily’s embroideries come from a deeply empathetic perspective and pay homage to the value of all life forms no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. This embroidery series is a meditation on the interconnectedness of nature and humanity and seeks to challenge societal norms surrounding death and mourning.
